What We Provide

Year Round Management

Deer management is required to ensure that a healthy well-managed population of deer can exist alongside forestry, horticulture and agriculture, without causing excessive damage and becoming a financial burden. We provide a initial free assessment, where we are able to survey the ground to get an idea of the population of deer and the damage being caused. This helps us to then develop a safe and humane management plan to suit your requirements. We have all the relevant up to date certifications and insurance required.

Short Term Control

As well as long term management we are also able to provide our clients with short term control. This can just be a small number or even a one off visit to sort out a problem. For example If you have a large number of deer doing a lot of crop damage, we are able to quickly come in and rapidly reduce the numbers, or even if you just have one problem deer in your garden we are happy to help out.

Surveys

An indication of deer numbers in an area is an important aid to managing deer populations. After a census is carried out it helps to guide cull planning decisions. It also helps to give an indication of exactly where deer are how they are distributed through an area, and can determine whether the population is increasing, stable or in decline. Various methods can be used to achieve a population census, using indirect methods such as  slot/dung counts and impact levels. Also direct counts can be carried out using thermal imaging from the air and ground,

Carcass Handling

After an animal has been humanely dispatched we will then carry out a carcass inspection looking for any signs of disease, the gralloched carcuss will then be moved in an appropriate manner depending on its location and terrain. We are fully equipped with 4x4's, ATV's and for the more inaccessible areas we will use drag sleds and rucksacks to minimise any environmental contamination. The carcass will be taken to a game larder where further carcass dressing can take place in a more hygienic environment. It is then hung in a chiller unit until the game dealer collects it. We are also able to provide venison for clients on request.
